A word from the artist...
My stoneware pottery is wheel-thrown in my studio in Durham, North Carolina. All glazes featured
here come from glazes I have either developed from the ground up or are my own derivations of
recipes I have come across during my study of pottery. Every time I sit at the wheel, I attempt to
create art that represents a balance of form and function. Once the clay has been shaped, I fire my
pieces to stoneware temperatures, ensuring that the clay body is "fixed" and impermeable to water.
In the firing process, my glazes capture the molten flow of the glass-melt and delightfully unpredictable
effects. . . . .JS

Kitchen Compost #7
A country-kitchen blue compost container adorned with a sun carving. |
Blue Lagoon Bowl
One of the last remaining pieces that highlight the Blue Lagoon glaze--excellent swirl caught in the bottom of this bowl. |

Blue Lagoon Bowl
One of the last pieces still available with the beautiful Blue Lagoon glaze |
Goblet Vase
This vase was triple-dipped in my Blue Lagoon glaze to create these flow effects. I've included additional pictures here because there are just so many interesting angles on this piece |

Midnight Pool Vase
This vase is one of the finest examples of my Midnight Pool custom glaze. I have a ways to go before I get a consistent outcome from this wonderfully fluid glaze. So until then, this vase stands as one of the very few Midnight Pool pieces I've created. |
Blue Column Vase
This slender flower vase was double-dipped in my custom Blue Lagoon glaze to create a crest of light blue that flowed down the piece during the firing process. |

Vine Vase
This twice-fired vase is extremely unique--perhaps too extreme for some, but this vase is a beautiful example of what fascinating things can happen inside the pottery kiln. The glaze steals the show here, but the form of this piece is beautiful in its own right. |
Blue Bowl
This beautiful blue bowl shows all the subtle variations of my custom made Blue Lagoon glaze. Notice the slim band of gold flecks just under the rim, which matches perfectly with the vlue rivulets trapped in the main body of the glaze. |
